Mark Hall Wins Senior National Title

The Pennsylvania RTC brings home several All-Americans from the 2021 US Open

Out scoring his opponents 46-4, PRTC Senior Level Athlete Mark Hall won a Freestyle National Championship on May 1st in Coralville, Iowa.  Competing at 86kg, Hall bounced back from falling short at the Last Chance Qualifier while missing an opportunity to compete in the Olympic Team Trials.

Hall dominated in his first four matches winning by technical superiority without giving up a single point in each match.  In the finals, he won 5-4 over a tough Trent Hidlay from the Wolfpack Wrestling Club.

The PRTC had several other athletes competing at Senior Nationals and at the UWW Junior Nationals which were also held in Coralville that weekend.

Competing at 61kg for the first time with the PRTC, Ethan Lizak placed fourth. Lizak went 4-2 on the day with three wins by technical superiority.

David McFadden, at 79kg, finished sixth after suffering a minor injury in one of his later round matches. McFadden went 3-3 while injury defaulting out of his last match. He did manage two wins by technical superiority.

Mauro Correnti finished in the top 12 at 125kg in Freestyle. Correnti also competed at 130kg in Greco and finished in the top 12 there as well. He went 3-3 on the day with two wins by technical superiority and a hard fought win over former NCAA finalist Derek White.

Two PRTC athletes competed for the first time at the Senior level in Coralville. Parker Kropman(70kg) and Mickey O’Malley(79kg) each had respectable showings in their performances.

Kropman went 2-2 while finishing in the top 12. O’Malley went 6-2 while finishing 4th. He qualified for the World Team Trials to be held later this year. Of note, for O’Malley, is that he outscored his opponents 54-16 on the day.

The PRTC fared well in the UWW Junior Nationals competition. Three athletes earned All-American status.

At 57kg, Ryan Miller placed second. Miller will be representing the USA at the Pan Am Games this summer.

Jaxon Maroney went 4-3 while placing eighth at 61kg. Maroney fought through a wild 18-16 win in the consolation round to attain All-American status.

At 70kg, Lucas Revano made it to the semi-finals before dropping a close 4-2 match that could’ve gone either way. Revano battled back and placed third becoming an All-American for the fourth time in his freestyle wrestling career.
